'Welcome to Canada' program expands

Inspired by Nature exhibit now on display

In partnership with the Rotary Club of Lethbridge East, we are proud to present this year’s Inspired by Nature: Youth Art Exhibition. This annual showcase of the next generation of artists is an opportunity for youth aged 18 and under to display their artwork in the Community Art Gallery at the Nature Centre. The exhibition will be on display from September 20 to October 30, 2022.

Creative Conversation on the Civic Culture Plan

We were proud to participate in the City of Lethbridge’s Civic Culture Plan by attending a creative conversation workshop. This conversation brought together thought leaders and community culture participants to share stories and dialogue about what “culture” means to Lethbridge. Our participation ensured the river valley was a central part of the conversation and that Lethbridge’s culture is intricately tied to our natural spaces.

Lowe's Canada Heroes Campaign starts September 1

We have been selected as part of the Lowe's Canada Heroes campaign! Lowe’s Lethbridge will be collecting donations on our behalf throughout the month of September in support of a Loose Parts Playground at the Nature Centre! Lowe’s Canada will match 50% of all customer donations up to a maximum of $2,000 per store.

City Nature Challenge 2021 a success!

This was the first year that Lethbridge participated in the City Nature Challenge (CNC). The CNC is a global citizen science bio-blitz held annually. In 2021 more than 419 cities around the world took part; more than 52,000 people participated; over 1,217,000 observations were made; 45,300+ species were documented, including 1,300+ species at risk. Temporary Facility Closure - December 13 until January 2021

On December 8, 2020 the provincial government issued stronger mandatory public health measures related to the COVID pandemic. These measures are in effect across Alberta in an effort to slow the spread of the virus in our communities and protect our healthcare system. As a result of mandatory restrictions the Helen Schuler Nature Centre facility will be closed December 13, 2020 until January 2021.

Get Involved - River Valley Engagement

Throughout October Lethbridge residents will be asked to provide their thoughts about recreation and preservation in the river valley. Households will be mailed a postcard early in the month that directs them to a survey on the City’s Get Involved Lethbridge webpage. The postcard provides each household with its own, unique code that will allow them access to answer the questions.
