Rattlesnake Safety in Lethbridge

Rattlesnakes spend much of their time on dry coulee slopes but will wander into cottonwood forests and wetlands in search of food. These snakes also enjoy sunning themselves on paved paths, so it is not uncommon to see them on pathways in some Lethbridge neighbourhoods. We have produced a Snake Safety video with the help of local snake enthusiast Ken Moore that provides expert tips and tricks to help avoid an unwanted encounter with rattlesnakes.

Ask a Naturalist - Living with Snakes - Live Q&A with Ken Moore

On Wednesday September 9, 2020 we hosted a Live Q&A with local snake expert Ken Moore in partnership with the Helen Schuler Nature Centre. This 1 hour live presentation provided an overview of the snake species living in Lethbridge. The program addressed practical tips on how to coexist with snakes in our city as well as what to expect as the seasons change & snakes migrate back to their winter den sites.
