You are invited to participate in the fourth City Nature Challenge (CNC) in Lethbridge! The CNC is a global citizen science Bioblitz. Last year, over 66,394 people from cities around the world documented urban biodiversity on the first weekend of May. Together, they submitted nearly 2 million observations for more than 57,000 species. In Lethbridge we had 18 observers submit 270 observations of 141 species. Can you help us top this in 2024?

Lowe's Canada Heroes Campaign

The Friends of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society has been selected as part of the Lowe's Canada Heroes campaign. This means that Lowe’s Lethbridge will be collecting donations on our behalf throughout the month of September! Lowe’s will be collecting donations of $2, $5, or $10 by asking customers at check-out if they would like to contribute. Lowe’s Canada will match 50% of all customer donations up to a maximum of $2,000 per store.

Join us for the online film premiere two years in the making! “Avian Summer" is a locally produced wildlife documentary by Rick Andrews featuring a variety of migratory birds that fly into Southern Alberta each spring. In the weeks that follow, they will need to find a mate, and successfully raise the next generation, before migrating south again in the fall. Travel Adventures: Cape to Cape, 52 days at Sea Aboard Europa with John Nightingale (2nd Presentation)

Find out what life is like on board Europa, a 56m tall - sailing ship, in the vast and unpredictable Southern Ocean toward Antarctica and beyond! John Nightingale spent 52 days at sea, departing from Ushuaia, Argentina sailing through the Beagle Channel, negotiating the infamous Drake Passage en route to the Antarctic Peninsula. Finally crossing the southern Atlantic Ocean, via South Georgia and Tristan Da Cunah to Cape Town, South Africa.
