Travel Adventures 2022 set to resume in September
Friends of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society are proud to announce four Travel Adventures presentations that will take place over the coming months. Travel Adventures is an ongoing series where local world travelers share their adventures with photographs that will help you discover the plants, animals and people of places you’ve always dreamed of exploring.
Everyone is invited to these engaging presentations scheduled at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre - either in-person OR online (via Zoom):
Patagonia with Joanna Fraser on Friday September 23, 2022 at 2pm
Discover the beauty found in the steppe-like plains of Patagonia - from vast grasslands to glaciated wilderness. Join adventure traveler Joanna Fraser for a tour through Southern Chile and Southwest Argentina as she highlights the plants, wildlife, and stunning scenery of the Patagonia region.
Wildlife Lethbridge with John Krampl on Friday October 28, 2022 at 2pm
Experience the beauty of wildlife in Lethbridge & share in the passion, talents and knowledge of photographer John Krampl. The Wildlife of Lethbridge is a slideshow presentation showcasing Wildlife in all 4 seasons in Lethbridge including stories of adventure with emphasis on where and when wildlife can often be seen.
The Big 5 of South Africa with Wanda Gibbons on Friday November 25, 2022 at 2pm
Game drives in South Africa or anywhere in Africa are terrifying yet exhilarating and surprising all in the same heartbeat. The struggle for life is powerful as the threat of death is ever present for these amazing creatures. While on a game drive there are always animals skulking in the brush very near you, dangerous animals within a hair’s breadth away, creatures that hide from you in extraordinary ways and yet the beauty and wonder make me want to go back again and again. Hopefully this presentation may nudge you to go too.
Birds: A Prescription for Happiness with Chris Fisher on Friday December 2, 2022 at 2pm
Join “Birds of Alberta” author Chris Fisher as he celebrates our province’s most loved birds. Their diverse beauty and ecological persistence has provided Albertans a vital, extra sense of wonder and meaning during these recent challenging times. Birds are our most accessible and authentic ties to the Natural world - and Alberta’s birds have never before been as meaningful and valued part of our lives. In this presentation, we will explore the many ways that birds and nature provide meaning and well-being to our lives and the science behind their good vibes.
Everyone is welcome to attend and admission is by donation. Proceeds from the events will go towards the Endowment Fund, supporting the Helen Schuler Nature Centre.
Reserved seating is available for all Travel Adventures presentations for a nominal donation and is highly recommended. Attending one, or all of the 2022 Travel Adventure presentations is an excellent way to show your support of the Friends of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society.
*Please note, tickets must be purchased separately for each Travel Adventures presentation (at this time, we are unable to sell a bundled package for all Adventures in one transaction).
Everyone in Lethbridge is encouraged to join us as a member to be a part of something great!
