Textile Onion

Allium textile

This slender-leaved plant has a characteristic onion smell and is topped with a lovely cluster of small white flowers. The textile onion has a tendency to grow in groups, and thrives in dry, disturbed soils. These onions can be eaten but there is a fatally toxic plant, called Death Camas, which looks extremely similar.

Look for these onions at the edges of dirt paths along the tops of coulees!
