On Sunday October 30 we hosted the Gallery Closing event for this year’s Inspired by Nature: Youth Art Exhibition. Participating artists were invited to the Nature Centre to be recognized for their artwork that was on display at the Nature Centre from September 20 - October 30, 2022. The event provided an opportunity to meet and thank the artists in person.

The event provided a chance for artists to talk about their artwork and be recognized for the contributions.

The majority of artists and their families attended the Gallery Closing event. Each artist had the chance to get their photo taken with their artwork. They were also presented with a thank-you card and gift certificate for art supplies.

This marks the sixth youth art exhibition and we are proud to report that 48 artists took part in 2022! This is exactly double the number of submissions received in 2021. We are also happy to see a variety of submissions - from origami to felting, from sculptures to paintings, from drawings to photographs!

Since 2015, two hundred and twenty seven youth artists have participated. This has provided excellent opportunities for emerging artists to develop their craft and understand the process of participating in such exhibitions.

Stay tuned for a refreshed artist call to be circulated in the new year (2023) that will invite artists to “find their muse” in nature, then create something that will inspire others to spend more time outside. Submissions can be mixed media, including: art, music, photography, videography, or writing.

Thank you to all participating artists and the Rotary Club of Lethbridge East for their continued support of this program!
